Great for hiking on difficult trails, with rocks and roots, they keep your toes safe that is for sure. Heavier than trail running shoes of course, I wouldn't use them for running, but on really tough trails, there is no running anyway. I wear them on weekend country hikes, and never had any complaints.

I bought them for work, and they are very good. They are pretty much waterproof, and very warm even in extremely cold weather, but surprisingly breathable when it gets a bit hot which prevents sweating, making work at the construction site a lot easier on my feet. The only negative is that the suede is hard to wash, and things get messy around my work place, I even got cement on them once and it took me forever to get it off, now I just wear them to work, so I don't have to care so much and get them as dirty as I please. I should have bought the all leather ones, but I guess that is my bad. Still great shoe, highly recommendable.
